Hope that you all had a great Canada Day weekend.  This past Saturday was Regina’s Kitchen’s grand opening.  I stopped in during the day (to pick some goodies up) and it was wonderful to see so many neighbourhood people dropping in, thrilled that we’re open and ready to do business.  We have all your favourites (chicken, blintzes, several kinds of soup, apple cake, mohn cookies and more) and a lot of new dishes - like quinoa salad, salmon, sugar-free Chocolate strudel, in addition to  fresh bagels  daily and beautiful  freshly-baked Chalahs on Fridays.

I picked up a bottle of barley soup and enjoyed it tremendously all weekend.  It is perfectly seasoned and lovely and thick – dipped a big hunk of chalah in it – a perfect meal for me.  I also picked up some sugar-free Mohn cookies, because I am diabetic and have to be very careful about what I eat.

The Regina’s Kitchen van is all ready to make deliveries and we’ve received several orders for Shiva meals.  We’ve added suggested shiva meals on our website (see the heading above) but we’d be happy to customize your order in any way you wish.

I have many wonderful memories of picking up something great to eat at Regina’s with my Mother on the way home.  My all-time favourite is the kishka – yep, I’m old school.  It tastes exactly the same as it did years ago, and that’s probably because the same lovely ladies make it.  There’s something comforting about going to a store and buying the same things you bought with your Mother a lot of years ago.  Just makes you feel good!

Please follow us on facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/reginaskitchendotca  or on twitter @foodlikebubbie.  We have some great contests and giveaways coming up soon and you don’t want to miss the news.

I grew up in Bathurst Manor in Toronto, a great area of the city and in particular an area that offers the finest in many kinds of cuisine, including Jewish! My Mother would drop into Regina’s on many occasions to pick up some apple cake or kishka – my father loved their kishka!

Now that I’m a Bubbie I love cooking my grandchildren’s favourite foods, but there are some things I
just can’t make myself – like gefilte fish or kishka, so I really appreciate knowing that I can pick up these
specialties at Regina’s! During my retirement I have found that the world of Social Media, including
tweeting and facebooking with new friends and tweeps around the world, has opened up so many
fabulous opportunities for me. I am thrilled to be Regina’s Kitchen Social Media Bubbie. I will be
posting lots of fun facts like what we are cooking today or some new recipes we are trying! We will also
be happy to cook one of your favs that you remember from way back when – just ask us and we’ll give it
a try. Check back frequently for what’s going on in Bubbie Bonnie’s world!
